Re: Are Shopsmiths for the affluent?

They may not be for the affluent, but every really great deal I've gotten on Shopsmiths has been from people who live in houses worth many times what mine is. For example. in May of 2006 I bought my 520 with a jointer, belt sander, and bandsaw on a power stand. They all have 10/2005 dates on them. I ...

Re: Removing Sand Paper from Disc Sander

I have just the opposite problem.

Shopsmith offered a real good sale on sand paper (disks and belts) a long while back. Being frugal as I am, I bought up a bunch which has now turned out to have not been frugal at all. I have a shelf full of adhesive backed sanding disks with adhesive that is no ...

Re: Maxiclamp instructions?

I have the manual. Kind of busy with the holidays, but will try to scan it for you. If you don't hear from me by New Years Eve, send me a reminder.

Thank you sidecarmike. I appreciate the offer but another member send me a pdf of the manual. I can really see a use for these clamps for special ...

Re:

I upgraded differently than most. I had a greenie (1957) and was happy with it, until one day someone offered me a really cheap 510 (1992) with a belt sander.
I sold the 500 on ebay, (for a modest profit!). I was very happy with it, until I saw a really cheap 520 (2005) on Craigslist one day. It ...

Re: Which ShopSmith model do you use in your shop

Due for an update. I still have the 520, which usually stays in table saw mode. I also have a 510 now that is my lathe and sanding station.
I've also got a dust collector, standalone Scroll Saw, a Pro Planer, and a Bandsaw on a powered stand. The belt sander, strip sander, and jointer still get used ...

Maybe you could post a photo of your modification, for others who might have a similar challenge. I would never have thought to do that. Welcome to the group. I'm not a woodworker, no matter how hard I try. I once had a carpenter tell me I was the only person alive who could cut a crooked line with ...
