This sounds like a problem I've had before.
Do you have a heat pump?
It sounds like the heat ? cool switching valve is sticking needing replacement. It needs to be removed and a new one soldered in Job for a HVAC tech to do.

Its a bit pricey but you can get wood for turning at Woodcraft or Rockler. I get my bowl blanks at Rockler about $10.00.Pen blanks at either.

My trick was to slide them on a scribe. then on to the seam ripper. By the Penn States does not use o rings

When I Attended the shop-smith academy in 1990 we used one to put flats on the post for the legs for a small 3 leg table. We used a 3 sided wood triangle on each end

You can use your 3/32 allen-wrench. Push it in the hole and push down the switch button.

I have Mark 7 I had to purchase an morse taper extender in the tail stock i use a 1/4 inch router chuck in headstock with a replacement mandrel. later i purchased a special mandrel from Penn State. apprx 40.00.
