Shalom
I assume this is what you have? See picture
There is a flat milled on the taper with two shoulders
You might have to remove the set screw completely to cleat the shoulder
Also, sorry for the confusion

Re: Latest box
About an hour ago I poured vinegar on some 0000 steel wool to make the solution to ebonize some red oak.
Did you make your solution the same?
And did you use tea first?

Re: Jointer cutter head hitting the table.
Thank you for the information on the screws I looked in the box of junk that came with the jointer but I did not see a shaft guard or what I think is the rear guard. But I might have a dust collector. The junk has a lot of other miscellaneous parts, so I’m not sure it’s for the jointer. I have the j...

Thank you for the information I got the rust off, bolted the head back into place, sharpened the blades and reset them. As far as the table bring broken, it looks like the original casting. See the photo. Btw, on the bottom of the unit, it looks like a 1955 draw cast into the unit. Which brings me to...

New to me shopsmith 4 inch jointer. The cutter head hits the infeed table preventing the head from rotating. Is the blade too high and needs adjusted down. Or does the whole head need adjusting? I searched the threads and found instructions on setting the blades in the head but nothing about adjusti...

Re: Pen finishes
Remember that CA glue will react with cotton. It will create an exothermic reaction that creates more fumes as the glue gets hot. If you are having a fume issue I would check the material in the pad you are using to apply.

You don't need much. A box made from plywood, a heater and a fan to circulate and vent the moist warm air. It only has to be big enough to fit your wood. My friend built one in his garage to go along with his saw mill. Heat the wood to 140 degrees for several days and test with a moister meter. or i...
