Bad day in Paradise

Had a bad day in Paradise, Ca on Thursday morning our town disappeared from the fire. I lost my entire home and shop and almost my life for staying around to long. Made it out safe but no sawdust time for sometime. I have limited internet and I'll try and keep you all informed and yes pics of ...

Re: I am out of patience!

A lot of members here will not rock the boat no matter how bad the service is. I for one will not order anything that is not available for immediate shipping and I ask on the phone to make sure. No one would accept this kind of service from Amazon, just because its Shopsmith some of you are willing ...

Upgrading pro planer

I would like to get the opinions from our forum. I'm contemplating (that does not mean it's set in stone) upgrading my pro-planer. By upgrading I'm talking about purchasing a Shelix cutter head and increasing my motor from it's current 3/4 hp to something in the 1 1/2 - 2 hp range. Has anyone done ...

Re: DC-3300 Replace Dust collector filter bag

I didn't notice any difference in air flow. When I ordered it I was concerned about how tall the bag was and figured I would adapt a rod to hold it up, but after installing it and turning the DC-3300 on it doesn't seem to need it. I haven't used it a lot because of weather and other projects. I may ...

Re: DC-3300 Replace Dust collector filter bag

I just replaced mine with one from Amazon that I paid $27.99 for. Powertec 7001 Dust Colledtor bag 20" x 31" 1 micron that works great. It is a little bigger( diameter wise) but I just folded it over to make it fit and so far it works. Dust has been a problem in my shop and now with this and the air ...

improvise, overcome, adapt

There is a wealth of knowledge out in this forum. Many thanks to John Burger for giving me advice on mounting a wixey readout to my pro planer. His pictures and advice made the job really easy to accomplish. My real point here is the wealth of knowledge that exists in this forum and how we help each ...

Re: Work bench top

I have been mulling around the idea of re-doing my entire shop with new cabinets and a different layout. I have pretty much made up my mind to bite the bullet and by maple butcher block for my work surfaces. I'm going to buy them in 8' sections and use them for the tops after I build my cabinets ...

Re: Air filtration system

I'm no expert when comes to motors. It's just a standard motor that has a squirrel cage blower with standard wiring that comes out of about a ten year old furnace. I wanted to be able to adjust the speed of the motor and looked into several type of switches most of which were in the $20 - $40 range ...

Air filtration system

I have solved my dust issues in my shop. Dust is always a problem, no matter how much or little you use your shop. I have a shopsmith dust collector and a shop vac for my tools yet fine dust was still over everything. I watched a number of youtube videos from people who built their own systems and ...
