Thanks Bill. Hearing “normal” - that makes me feel better. Also, having found the “repair” and “troubleshooting” sections of the manual will help. They were hiding between two SPT sections, not with the maintenance pages… It’s time I went through every single page and put them in better order. The ...

Thanks guys. I will look in the manual again for instructions on adjusting / calibrating the speed control dial. I didn’t see it when I was going through the maintenance section, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there! I was running it up and down by hand because the book (I think – it’s out in the sh...

Belt tension - Is this normal?

I’m still reassembling my new (to me) 510. I had broken it down almost completely for transport, and have not powered it up yet. I was performing “basic maintenance” on the headstock (waxing quill, oiling sheaves, etc.) and noticed something that doesn’t seem right. When the speed control is in the...

When I was 14 or 15, framing a house with my Dad, I wired the blade guard open on a circular saw to more quickly cut a bunch of fire blocking. After going at it for a while, I set the saw down on the deck before it was finished turning. The blade walked the saw across the plywood subfloor, then cut...

I've also had trouble ordering on the website. I went to take advantage of a sale that was going on few months ago, and ended up canceling the order after several attempts to create my "shopping list" failed. Items were duplicated, priced or totaled incorrectly, etc… and I ended up feeling...

Bill, The sawhorse trick helped a lot. I removed the legs, and approached the project upside down as you suggested. It was much easier to see where the tube ends needed to be not laying on my back, and not fighting gravity and "leg torque". I have both the bench and the way tubes setup jus...

That sounds like a nice setup. I've been thinking about how I'm going to do an outfeed support with the (new to me) adjustable table height. Matching tables would certainly work, but I'll likely end up re-inventing the wheel... John, I bought a Mark V chasis in which the way tubes and the bench tube...

I don't know that this bit of information constitutes a standard but here it is. Use it for what it is worth. Well, it's worth a lot to me, so thanks. If that's your setup, and you don't have any allignment or performance issues with your machine, then that's good enough for me. I will look again f...

Dusty, I agree - that would be great. I plan on buying many accessories over the coming months and years, but I'd sure like to see those missing sections on assembly and alignment up front. I need to look further in my existing manual... perhaps the pages are just out of order.

Thanks Bill. I have the original manual in its binder, but don't see that particular section. I'll look deeper. I may need to buy a new copy...
