Thanks Tony. The problem is I can't seem to find the pin. Is it particularly well hidden, or am I blind?

quill bearings

I'm having some trouble replacing my quill bearings. I've source the proper high quality bearings, and have had no trouble removing the outer (larger) one, but can't seem to figure out how to replace the inner (smaller) one. The ID of the old and new bearing seem identical, but is more than .100 sma...

Just to make sure I understand the parts site correctly, I have to order an entire spindle assembly to fix this problem?

Well, now I feel a bit silly. It's not the quill that's moving, it's the spindle assembly. W/ the spindle knob off, I removed the snap ring, cleaned it and the groove, reseated it against the shim washer, and the spindle slop play is unchanged. The inner bearing race moves just perceptably w/ the sp...

Yeah, I thought it was the arbor at first, but she's down tight. It is the quill, as the silver knurled ring (I don't know its real name) just to the left of the arbor moves w/ it. I'll check the pinion and see what I find. One of my concerns is the bearings. Is this a known failure mode for those?

Quill/riving knife issues...

Hello again all. I'm having an issue that I can't seem to find any info on. I recently acquired an early 90s 510, and I've tuned/lubed/waxed, etc per the manual and the info I've learned on the forum. The problem I'm having is that when I put on the upper saw gaurd, the riving knife/splitter is in p...

Glue on worktable...

Hello all. I just purchased a 1993 model 510 and am in the process of cleaning it up for use. I've been lurking and learning here for a while, but I've run into a problem I can't find an answer to. The gentleman whom I purchased the 510 from has kept it in overall good condition, but he used the wor...
