I found out the sizing issue when I bought a featherboard for my 500 . . . I was at the wood store and bought one that went in the miter slot . . . and it didn't fit. DOH! :p I still have it in a bag, I might just hit it with a little grinding to make it fit. I have some Oak runners that I bought th...

LOL -- The best deals thread!

Man -- just when you think *you've* found the best deal, someone else comes along and one-ups ya! Great score! I was on the opposite end of those $100 deals . . . I have some UGLY pics of what one guy was advertising on CL for "needs TLC". Ooof . . .TLC meaning the only thing good was the ...

Yea -- I've had the same feeling. I sized some adjustable painting extension poles last night at WallyWorld and after a few "scientific" tests . . . I think I could make them into extendable poles for the missing ones on my Shopsmith 510. Hmmmm . . . .

I compared my jointer and mine is made differently and is missing that ledge that the outfeed table rests on. Grr. :-) I think I'll come up with another idea and see what I can do with Sketchup. Hmm.

I just found that Youtube video with the Jointer extension just the other day -- wow. That's pretty slick! I'm going to make one just as soon as I figure out how to change my nicked blades and sharpen them.

500 vs. 510 vs. 520

I guess I'm kind of fortunate because I have a 500 and 510, and my dad has a 520 so I have been able to sample them all. I got to help him with sawing a bit this weekend on the 520 and it was fantastic. :D I injured my thumb on Friday night buying some lumber (dropped two sheets of 3/4 Birch near it...

Mounting

Actually I was going to use a piece of aluminum angle and drill it out, but I needed to cut it, drill it, and dress it with the grinder. I grabbed that block of wood and made this quick-n-dirty version. I was originally going to use a piece of 3/4 inch oak that fits in the weird miter groove. (Ok --...

Tendon Jig + Dial Caliper

In case you want to aggravate yourself with a dial-caliper in making sure your table is square to the blade.

So far so good. I hooked up a cyclone lid to my dust collector (Grizzly 1 1/2 hp model) and now I have that 4" hose necked down to the 2 1/2 port on the SS. I don't like how it hangs though -- seems to put a lot of stress on the 510 guard (plastic). The old 500 table wouldn't have any problem w...

Dust Collection

Ok -- I bit the bullet and bought a Grizzly 1 1/2 hp dust collector the other day for another smokin' great deal. :-) (Gotta love the Internet!) I'm looking into some solutions for dust collection and I'm wondering how everyone is handling collection in various modes -- like table saw/etc.. I saw so...
