For what it's worth, I recently paid $260 for my greenie, and that was without the bandsaw and jointer. Which I have paid both $100 each to purchase. I went through mine and it only really needed a few parts ($80 or so) and bearings, which I replaced. 4 bearings to be exact, two in the motor and two...

Yes Bruce - my Goldie is a 1960 and it has a saw guard that fits only 9" blades. It predates the round dust collection port as the port in the guard is rectangular. The top guard is the aluminum model, equipped with riving knife and anti-kickback pawls. When adjusted properly it works fine. I'...

Question: Is it true that the NYW was originally underwritten by ShopSmith? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Answer: Shopsmith was never a national underwriter of New Yankee although they generously donated tools for us to use on the early shows. Over...

My greenie, you have to press down on a "button" below the power switch to be able to use the higher speeds.

They must use the same old castings for the new dials.

The second link answers the "do you really NEED an arbor for a molder 'head'" question. SS says NO!. Actually, it states you DO need an arbor to fit the Mark V. So, I'm still confused. It offers a ball and setscrew alignment system that automatically positions the knives and locks them in...
