SYMMETRY exists. The sheave geometry is identical. IF the sheaves are allowed to traverse full range the belt/sheaves move in equal but opposite direction. 1) Greenie is a term used for the first Mark 5 that superceded the Madel 10. Ditto the later goldie/brownie model.

2)I would. It also reduces rattling.

The planer/jointer sharpening jig is intended to be used with the conical disc sander. It sorta can be used with a flat sanding disc.
