For the ball end I bought a pool balls set made for children in EBay. They are solid, nice hard plastic and have numbers as a bonus. The size is perfect.

You can make a short video and put it in YouTube or Facebook
May be SS can also see it there and determine if it's normal

To me looks like the cap cover for the unused end of the belt sander axle

What did you use on top of the lighthouse? Looks like something plastic but is it something sold for this type of project?
