Today in the shop: A little support here

For any of you who might have been following my wood working adventures this is more of them. I have an extension table for my shopsmith that allows me to mount a router table or osculation sander. The plate I got for the router table and or sander allows me more functionality but I'm not done yet. ...

Re: Today in the shop: Some turning

The parts arrived and now I have pretty much finished this project. Of course now comes the giving. Some stuff I will have to mail to DE but the rest can be delivered local so that is easier. Still have to get the wife to tie on the cords and decide who gets what. ksdone.jpg scdone.jpg Still have to...

Re: I am a bit confused on this one from woodpecker .

While I have mostly addressed cutting up sheet goods the track saws also are great for those of you who buy S2S lumber. Or lumber with live edges that you want to get rid of. The track is a straight line so you can place it on the board and decide just where you want to cut away and what you want to...

Perhaps if we back up a bit we can address more questions. The guided saw system is basically a saw and a track. In its basic form you can measure and mark dimensions then lay the track on the work piece aligning it to the established cut line which is a replaceable portion of the track. The first t...

Re: Duck family with guardian goose?

The guardian goose seems to still be on the job here a few days later. Wish one could know what is going on with this, but for sure it is happening. https://youtu.be/r5xIIdv-QTE A second video here: https://youtu.be/9mhqzg1jgzg Shows a goose family swimming across a river. Note the line they form ra...

Re: I am a bit confused on this one from woodpecker .

I remember a time when the trend was to use the plywood because it had a nice factory edge and would be pretty darn square. Of course it was all made in the good old USA and profit while important wasn't job one. Those days are long gone. The thing is you use plywood for various projects and as such...

Re: Mothers Day Planters

As general information, the use of power tools means that we use sizes like 1/4, 5/16, 3/8 and 1/2 to either drill or route the slots. Yes you can go bigger but the point is that we go where the tools take us most of the time. SOP is to do the slot first then the part to fit the slot using the slot ...

Re: New in the shop "The generic thread"

I'm repairing a garden box and working alone I needed an extra set of hands to hold things in place while I screw them together. Since getting an extra set of hands is not easy to do it was much simpler to get a couple of C-clamps. The problem was that the reach needed to be 8". I'm thinking oh...

Re: Duck family with guardian goose?

Shot this video this afternoon. A batch of sparrows fresh out of the nest with the mom feeding them. I like how she makes sure they each get some. https://youtu.be/EfYMa6JBmpA Later when I was about to head off to the hardware store I noticed a little sparrow near the back tire of the van. Went to i...

If you can get over the sticker shock they do make a laser center locator designed for mounting in a chuck/collet and you can find one here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WVG4OUI/?coliid=I1UBEH5FVEA74Z&colid=OB95ICBAIUZF&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it One of our members here has one and it is...
