Re: Dec 2nd in IL, nice day for projects

I ran out of time today to attempt an assembly but in the next couple of days it will happen. I think I will try laying them out flat on tape then fold up and see how close things are. I think I will have to live with what ever the results are, no good way to make that small of changes to either the...

Re: Shopsmith 6" x 48" belt sander

If you happen to pick up an old used one be aware that there is an upgrade to the dust collection for them. Not sure when that changed but the one I got in the mid 70's needed the upgrade. Even with the dust collection running there is still dust, but if you ever try using it without dust collection...

Re: Dec 2nd in IL, nice day for projects

This next project was a little bit of a head scratcher. So I stuck together a jig that I hoped would work and I think it did but I'm not happy with it. The problem is wider stock being cut to an effective 60 degrees from the saws perspective. The actual angle is 30 degrees from the work pieces persp...

Dec 2nd in IL, nice day for projects

Not often I can get out side to work on projects in December but today was one of those days. First project was to make some molding. Simple stuff just a cut out on the back side and then chamfered edges on two sides. trim1.jpg Used a dish bit and got it about in the center. Ran it through one why t...

Re: Live center

Then there are systems like this: ms1.jpg This starts with collet system to hold the drive side so that alone runs some money and this is not commonly used system but does work on the shopsmith as shown. That's close to what I want. Then I found this; https://www.pennstateind.com/store/PKMBCM3.html...

Re: 2021 Tool Buget is over now on to 2022

Finished my 2022 budget. After adjusting a few items and updating prices etc it stands at $2891. I have a few things that are easy to put off, again, like a new air compressor. The old one works but CFM is lower then some of my tools want, longer recycle time is one thing but other effects are not s...

My last order to shopsmith was 12/2/2019

Update that date to 11/29/21. I was just checking to see how much money I spent at shopsmith last year...... nothing at all. The last order was for the laser drill guide thing with the faulty mounting system. That disappointment and the new prices for the nuts and bolts just put me off on ordering. ...

Re: Live center

I've not used a drive like was pictured. One thing to remember is that the shopsmith doesn't have a method to use MT type tools on the head stock side ie the drive side. I have a couple of tools that I use and while not quite what was ask about they do work for turning and have no spurs. First is th...

Re: Two Front Rails Listed - Which one do I buy?

If you need just the short front rail it is the 522367, the other part is an assembly with extra cost and more parts.

Re: 2021 Tool Buget is over now on to 2022

I hadn't studied the printed parts they have for the domino, it looks like some might be useful. I do own the Dewalt to festool track adapter and the 2.3mm waste side jigs from someone on etsy, don't recall the name?? The vertical position jig looks like it also come as a kit with a selection of off...
