Re: Mothers Day Planters

As general information, the use of power tools means that we use sizes like 1/4, 5/16, 3/8 and 1/2 to either drill or route the slots. Yes you can go bigger but the point is that we go where the tools take us most of the time. SOP is to do the slot first then the part to fit the slot using the slot ...

Re: New in the shop "The generic thread"

I'm repairing a garden box and working alone I needed an extra set of hands to hold things in place while I screw them together. Since getting an extra set of hands is not easy to do it was much simpler to get a couple of C-clamps. The problem was that the reach needed to be 8". I'm thinking oh...

Re: Duck family with guardian goose?

Shot this video this afternoon. A batch of sparrows fresh out of the nest with the mom feeding them. I like how she makes sure they each get some. https://youtu.be/EfYMa6JBmpA Later when I was about to head off to the hardware store I noticed a little sparrow near the back tire of the van. Went to i...

Re: New in the shop "The generic thread"

If you can get over the sticker shock they do make a laser center locator designed for mounting in a chuck/collet and you can find one here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WVG4OUI/?coliid=I1UBEH5FVEA74Z&colid=OB95ICBAIUZF&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it One of our members here has one and it is...

Duck family with guardian goose?

This is something that I have never witnessed in nature. In fact I have never heard of this happening but there it was. As some of you may know it is common for geese to have a parent lead then a stream of they young followed by another parent. Ducks quite often travel with the mom and bunch up behi...

Re: New in the shop "The generic thread"

Yes I use those router bit centering gauges all the time. So much so that I have two of them. One with my router stuff and another in my drill press stuff.

I'm glad you found them and I would recommend that if you don't have at least one you should get one.

Re: New in the shop "The generic thread"

Hi, yes the new blades are thinner but I have the older TS55 and the blades do not work with that version. The riving knife would be the issue I think but I have not verified that. I think it is a nominal 2mm so that would be a no go. In fact I just decide to check out the information to be sure wha...

Re: Magnetic Tape on 520 Front Rails

I've not been happy with the rule system on the 520. When I was ordering my 520 upgrade kit I got a call from shopsmith asking if it would be OK to send that version as they were in the change over from the old to the new. I of course said yes. Accuracy is just so so with the system. OK for making b...
