Chris ....He built the frame from 3/4 ply and used 3/4 ply with the center cut out leaving about 2.5 - 4 inch perimeter for each seat. He has storage under the seat. The webbing was woven in a basket weave with the each strap being about 1/2 to 3/4 inches apart and nicely woven. He then covered tha...

My neighbor is an upholster by trade (highly skilled world renown) I watch him from time to time. Most of his seating is done one of three ways. Polyester webbing pulled tight and often woven, springs, or thin board over laid with cushion material. For cushion material he uses everything from horse...

Hi Chris, Why knot use real springs??? Here is one source, but there are many. Just do a "Google" search for "seat springs". :) Great idea, but I think it'd make the thing a bit to thick. I want to put drawer below the seating, so the thinner the better. Seems slats may be the r...

How to make springiness to a bench seat?

i have a project in mind and kinda stuck on how to do something. The idea is to make a Bench in a nook area with built-in seating and storage. We plan to make cushions for the seating, but I also want to have a 'springiness' to the top of the bench under the cushions. I thought of using a stretchy f...

http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/itemfind.htm?item=711124 This foot switch only controls the Dust Collector, not the SS. So this solution requires a two step process. Right? Seems like the perfect solution if it powered both, but it's clearly not rated for that. Although it may be dangerous to ha...

YES It IS a problem. DO change it to 10GA. The problem is the 14GA can overheat without the 30A breaker tripping. Think House Warming! The momentary decrease in DC speed in NOT unusual if it returns to 'normal' speed AFTER SS gets up to speed. The SS requires a substantial start-up current that bri...

Guys, Well, I must recall incorrectly. I wired the garage 9 years ago. Definitely a 30 amp breaker, but I probably used 10 ga wire. Checking the exposed wire, the main runs are definitely 10ga. But I noticed I tapped into an junction box wired with 10ga for an outlet near the SS with 14 ga. I'm no e...

Shopsmith Power Solution ?

Still in my first month with the SS. My old Ryobi Saw had a power outlet on the side with a cord that goes to the switch that turns it on. So I was easily able to hook up a dust collector to turn on each time I started the saw. This seems like a pretty useful thing to do on shopsmith. Has anyone don...

Newbie - Saw Arbors

Ok. I was ripping a Douglas Fir 2x4 today and the SS motor was getting dogged down. I suspect it was the combination of the hard knot areas, resin on the blade and perhaps a dull combo blade it came with it. Anyways, so I thought I'd run to the store to get a set of blades. Well, that didnt' turn ou...
