speed reducer
Hi, Per the manual, the adjustments for the 2 screws (#14) on the front and rear of the speed reducer, should be 27/32 "between the washers". The adjustment screws ride inside of a spring. One screw was exactly 27/32, the other was 23/32. I adjusted it to 27/32, and that small adjustment d...

speed reducer
Hi Goldie,
Got the manual from Shopsmith. It appears there are only 2 adjustments, for the belt drives(#14 adj screws), and no internal maintenance. So, I will check the adjustments and see what happens.
Thanks for the idea,
Larry

reducer noise
Thanks Ed and Chuck, I can not seem to find my original manual for the reducer. I see on the front of the speed reducer, a rectangle plate and at the bottom there is a 2 inch spring that covers what appears to be an adjusting screw. I will play with this screw and see what happens. If anyone has the...

Sharpening turning tools-Tormek system
Hi Rick, I agree that the Wolverine is a great start to keeping gouges sharp. I have had the Tormek water system for about 8 years, and I find it works great. It takes longer to shape the tools, but with this system, you can reproduce the same shape/edge each time, and then spend very little time ho...

Speed reducer.
Hi, The speed reducer has, what I think, an abnormal excessive rotational bearing type noise, that seems a bit much. The Shopsmith motor was so noisey, for so long, I just do not remember what the normal noise is from the reducer. One of my questions was....is there any type of maintenance required ...

SS Speed reducer noisey
Hi Everyone, My first visit here. I have a 10 yo Mark V. Question for anyone. Is there any maintenance required for the speed reducer? Does it need to come apart to lube? Here's why---- I was turning a hunk of wood yesterday, and the motor sounded like a cement mixer. I took the cover off , and foun...
