Re: Sort of a gloat on a 510
That's why MDF is only allowed in my shop on 3rd Wednesday after a total lunar eclipse during a leap year. Gives me allergy reaction almost immediately. Sure didn't look to good in the beginning but pleasantly surprise how good of condition everything (parts wise) turned out to be. Going to be a goo...

Sort of a gloat on a 510
Picked up a dirty dusty absolutely filthy March 1988 510 machine on the extra cheap yesterday. I've seen really bad rusted out barn kept machines before but this one was just sawdust baked on crud from head to toe inside and out. There was a grey scroll saw with it and that was really all I was real...

Re: Where did you get your shopsmith?
I've bought at auction and flipped maybe ten to twelve SS's over the years to help fuel my shop tool addiction. In hindsight, wish I would have kept some of the accessories but have settled into using my 510 shorty and full size 520 for the various sanding configurations available. Power Pro or rebu...

Re: Inflatable Contour Drum Sander Question
I've seen a couple of his sphere videos but not this particular one. Thanks for posting it. The resins/plastics certainly are pretty and you can come up with some wild color variations. I've made some pens with it but really don't like working with it. Smells goofy and getting rid of the strands is ...

Re: Inflatable Contour Drum Sander Question
Just as an update. Took the table and platen off the strip sander and didn't work very well. Just nothing but air to provide any pressure to the piece. Add the shorter platen with the radius and it worked quite well and better than expected. Provided just the right amount of flex to conform to the s...

Re: Inflatable Contour Drum Sander Question
rpd .............I have done some between centers before and nothing wrong with that method. My personal preference is in a chuck but I'll have to give your swapping ends idea a twirl. As long as the 2 center-points can get perfectly re-aligned, should work. jsburger ........while trying to decide ...
