2) Is the date in the casting a mfg date? If so this was made in Jan of 1980. It sounds like you have found my jointer's long lost brother! Mine has the metal guard, and it works fine for me. You should look for eccentric mounts. Also take a look at the fence quadrant to make sure it isn't bent. Mi...

The "textbook" that accompanies the self study course is PTWFE. The page numbers may not match up because it has been revised more than once.
I may have the only dissenting view on the bandsaw here. I have two. Normally, I keep a 3/4" blade on one to resaw wood and the other one normally has a small blade for cutting curves and small cars. This saves me time is finding, identifying the correct blade and ...

Success!

I purchased both a 3/4" and 1" 10-32 screw. The new one went in much better than the old one or the metric screw. :o I think the screw length must be an issue of vintage. The casting of my jointer has a date of 1-24-80 and has the old style guard. Mine takes 3/4" screws. 8801[...

Thank you, Dusty. I appreciate you taking the time to check it out. I will go back and get a 10-32 screw to try, and if that doesn't work, I will try cleaning it out with a tap. I will post back when I have it figured out.

Jointer cutterhead screw question

Does anyone know the size of the screws that hold the wedges in the jointer cutterhead? I replaced the bearings and blades recently, and there is one screw that does not want to go in. I found a couple of dings in the screw's threads, so I went out to match it up and get a new one. I was really surp...

Thanks for the responses on the mystery parts. I found that the manual that came with this Mark V does have a 510 section that goes through everything I should need for alignment. Hopefully I will get some shop time this weekend to work on that.

I think the parts on the left are for the bandsaw circle cutter. I have no clue on the other pieces. Does anyone k...

Bandsaw and Power Station

Here are the new bandsaw and power station. I had just finished restoring my old bandsaw, but this one came with the table upgrade and fence. I figure I can mix and match parts to make one. I'm not sure yet if I want to keep both bandsaws. I also don't know if I am going to keep the power station. I...

New Mark V and some questions

I have been looking for another Mark V to use as my main machine so I can turn my first one into a mini or shorty. Last weekend I found it! I bought a Mark V 500 and a bandsaw on a power station, and it also came with a 510 table upgrade. It was an ebay auction, so I figured I was taking a chance on...
