well after watching the sawdust sessions video, ( and being interrupted multiple times) it looks like cake to tear this unit down. i have to finish a project that i have going on at the moment ( recovering my show truck's interior panels in suede) and then i can dig into this headstock.

Boy, I thought I had made and/or seen most Shopsmith modifications but this one has many that I have never seen. My first impression is that this is a knock-off machine as there are quite a few differences between your pictures and a Shopsmith. The name plate is missing therefore you will have to ...
