Sorry about that, I've just learned that 'Acrow' is a trade name. Here in the UK it's become a generic for jack posts like 'Hoover' is for vacuum cleaner. I've yet to learn what the correct Brit term for jack posts is, everyone I know in the building trade calls them Acrows. :) Good to know it's jus...

Thanks for the replies, I'm in Liverpool, Toxteth to be exact. It's one of those 'Upstairs Downstairs' large terraced houses converted to flats.
