Re: Are you a powerpro owner?

Owned mine since 2014 and I love it. It was my introduction Shopsmith and I have never regretted it.

How many does that make now?

Re: Mark V Dust Collection - Is There a Better Way??

I know this thread is about improving dust collection but your floating out-feed table is what has my attention. This would solve so many problems. Do you have any specs you can, and are willing, to share. Are the hook brackets off the shelf somewhere or did you fashion them yourself? How long is th...

Re: New Shopsmith Owner

I, like you, am a budding woodworker whose wife would like to redo the kitchen. Fortunately, she is not in a great hurry so I have time to heed one the best pieces of advice I have received: before building any cabinets and doors for the kitchen, build them for your shop. Some of the benefits are: -...

Re: PowerPro Rattle on Startup

On my machine the rumble does not go away. As I increase the speed it gets louder and higher pitched. Is this normal?

I have had it 3 years but used very little until the few months - maybe 30 hours total until now. I don't recall it sounding like this when it was new.

All advice appreciated.

Re: Text book on SketchUp

I really like the New Woodworkers Guide to Sketchup by Bob Lang. Things I like the most: His explanations are generally clear and includes videos that reinforce what has just been explained while showing you how to do the specific task. He encourages you to have Sketchup up and running in a separate...

Re: Traveling Academy

I attended one last fall in Portland, Oregon. I found it worth the time and cost. I learned things about using and maintaining my machine, a Mark 7 that I not thought about. I also got to meet and talk with SS users and compare notes, couple of which live near me in Vancouver, WA. You might want to ...

Re: Lathe chucks - What (not) to get?

Not wishing to be contrary, but I recently purchased a Nova G3 chuck, with 3 accessory jaws from Woodcraft for $149. I purchased a 5/8 to 0 adapter for $30. The adapter works very well. SS makes great equipment and materials at a good price but sometimes better deals are out there. Larry Add on the...
