I recommend bookmarking the page above. I keep saying this... If your Shopsmith (or anything else) will not run, "always begin at the beginning. The motor capacitor is not the beginning ". I have said it several times here and maybe I need to just post it weekly (or daily). Maybe someone ...

Sounds like a bad cap. But measure your line voltage at the point of use also. When you replaced the motor, did you replace the cap? If you can, disconnect the cap and measure continuity across it, if its open then you have a bad cap. Also make sure you have the correct cap. Try to spin the shaft wh...

Im sad to not see it, but if they are using china made drives and motors, I think they are better off to hold off. I would hate to see SS go the way of so many American business. Could it be a cold solder joint on the motor? Did they "try" to repair a broken winding? Is the starting cap correct?

If its a split phase, is the centrifugal switch ok?

It all points to a motor problem.
