I have removed a couple of plastic quill handles then roughed up shaft with a bench grinder and sanded inside of plastic handle and applied CA glue inside handle. After reassembling allow to cure for a couple of days. So far neither has worked loose again. Jim

The Cube my favored Getter Upper

I made my first 12" cube in 1970 at the request of my Mother. As a rather short aging woman she wanted a means to reach kitchen cabinets. I have made many over the years. Kids and Grand kids love them, Women who lack vertical stature like them. My most recent versions are made using box joints....

I tried turning a small piece of well dried pine. Unfortunately not my best experience. I would suggest using scary sharp tools and wear a face mask. I avoid pine in all wood working tasks. As a youth I found it decent to work with in recent years not so great. PLEASE be extremely careful!!!!!!!!! Jim
