Re: cleaning and preparing tubes for rebuild.

To show you are a real ShopSmith guy, try Nick Engler's solution.

Re: Dragged out a shopsmith

When I ran out of Johnsons, I got the Minwax. Whew... it was a really hard wax to apply.
But, on a hunch and a tip from another on YT, I mixed some with linseed oil.
Perfect... applied well, buffed off easily...and made ALL my jigs, and SS accessories glide.
YMMV..

Re: Dragged out a shopsmith

Here is an off beat YT video with a guy in your position. Bought a COMPLETE ShopSmith and had to figure out ALL of the tools/toys.

Enjoy the video.... and the "puzzle". :)

Re: Shopsmith Shelix Conversion?

ThistleRock and all,
I'm looking to add a helical cutterhead to my Pro Planer.
Any one made the upgrade and can report results/satisfaction?
I've started a dialog with Shelix but I'd appreciate any other opinions.
BTW... I hate swapping/sharpening planer blades.

Re: Shopsmith's new website is up....

I'm thinking I see another "pattern" here. Guys and gals who love the Swiss Army Knife ...and the other technology which is similar.. i.e. ShopSmith. As a career service guy, I was always intrigued by both, and longed for a ShopSmith while I always carrying a SAK. So after retirement, I bo...

Re: Sell me on the SS jointer

No argument here with me. Bluing is only a preventative, but gotta keep it oiled. Amen to that. It was an idea for him to try and reduce rust with the steel components. START with the bluing, then watch and rub to maintain. It's always been a tradition to check/clean and rub down with oil (and an ad...
