Look at the second photo, that's the plastic guard. As dusty notes, European regulations are the reason from what I understand as well.

Re: What are these screw holes for?
There is a plastic guard that can be installed there to prevent you from grabbing the hub while its spinning. It comes standard on the powerpro headstocks for example.

Re: SS Band Saw Double Backup Bearing Upgrade
Here is a set of prints for a DIY upgrade of the three blade backup rollers to double bearing. The prints are dated 2008 and that is about when I did the upgrade. The McMaster-Carr part numbers were all valid back then. If that has changed all the dimensions are there so the parts should still be a...

Re: Incra TSIII with Wonder Fence
Is anyone using the Incra TSIII with the Wonder Fence? I have just purchased the Power Pro Upgrade and now considering the double tilt upgrade to use with my TSIII, purchase the Wonder Fence, ILO of the Woodhaven router table. Would be interested in hearing from anyone with the TSIII with the Incra...

Re:
Thanks for everybody's input on this. It is the exact direction I was thinking in. As for why do I want to set up a second Shopsmith dedicated to this...? I want to be able to keep the wood working and the metal working set-ups separate from each other. I don't want to mix metal filings and saw dus...

Re: 10ER Way Tubes - Use them on PowerPro or dedicated drill press?
I would like to see a picture with the shorter tubes. I thought I might have to do that. I used the 18" pieces of bench tubes I cut off when I made my shorty. My initial feeling was that they may be a little too long given the front leg sticks out past the table a bit and would interfere with ...

Re: 10ER Way Tubes - Use them on PowerPro or dedicated drill press?
Yeah, my dedicated drill press is setup similar to yours: WP_20140527_18_56_53_Pro.jpg The blue mark is where I ended up cutting off the lower tubes. I will have to take a picture of it as of now. I flipped the headstock like you did. I have a light that I haven't mounted on it yet, so this is a goo...

10ER Way Tubes - Use them on PowerPro or dedicated drill press?
Just curious on people's thoughts. I have a Powerpro that is full length and a dedicated drill press with full length tubes (the carriage tubes are shortened to ~14 inches or so). The PowerPro has a lift assist on it, so that helps. I have considered seeing about replacing the piston on the lift ass...

Re: Zyliss Vise
I had seen demo's of this vice probably 20 years ago or so but I haven't seen one lately. Where can you buy one? What do they cost today? I saw a warning on the Fine Woodworking forum (google search for Zyliss Vise) that said the jaws on the new vise are a different material and are breakable??????...

Re: Zyliss Vise
heh, i have ended up with a few of these in the boxes that come with buying a shopsmith. I wasn't surprised when i saw that the same guy who does the shopsmith demos in this area (and previously did them at the fairs and such) is the one who sells the z vise.
