The first tier turning is done. We tried to use the different colored mahoganies to get the overlapping petal effect and i think it worked pretty well. Now for the other two tiers.

After a lot of carving with the bandsaw and sawzall I got the blank mounted on the SS. The PP did not like the slow speed and 50lbs of wood but it got the job done. Once I was able to get the speed up to about 650 rpm the motor stopped making that annoying noise. It is roughed out and now I can do t...

Yes I kept the outer level at 5” so either the SS or the grizzly will cut it easily

I will cut it down on the bandsaw to about 15 1/2” diameter which will fit. The finished diameter will end up around 14 1/2”.
