Sorry I sent the same message a few times but it didn't look like it went though. Try moving the quill in and out didn't work so I took it all out I can't get the spring out of the houseing. any Ideas???

Think I found the problem Motor sheave needed oil. BUT have another problem now. Was takeing off the quill and let the handle slip. The spring came off Been trying to put it on with no luck. Anyone have a trick to doing it.

Think I found the problem The motor sheave needed oil . BUT hve another problem now let the handle slip when takeing out the quill. And the spring slipped off. Do any of you know how to put it back on??? Been trying with no luck. Help me, help me

Yes with out the belt on every thing turns free!! But put the belt on and the motor freezes and blows the breaker. But I have taken the hole head a part and am cleaning and lubeing everything and we'll see what happens when it's all back together.

Freezing up
Just got a Shop Smith given to me It's about 30 years old but was only used a few times and has been sitting for 25 years. With the V belt off the motor runs and everything seems to move very freely BUT when I put the belt on it freezes up. Can't figture it out
