Very nice!!!

I had many plans for doing similar restorations with items from my Grandparent's house, as my Grandfather kept many wonderful antiques around. Unfortunately, he passed first and my Grandmother tossed out all the old "junk". :(

Dusty, When I get those old hand-me-down computers that don't work, my first step is to remove all expansion cards save what is minimally needed (video card, if not on-board video). I then go into the BIOS and set it back to its default settings. Usually this gets me to a starting point. If not, I'l...

I use a 3M film-kit on several of my windows, mainly to cut down drafts from the west-winds. It installs pretty smooth once I use the hair-dryer to shrink it in place. For the double-stick tape, I've been impressed -- it works well, but can be pulled off fairly harmlessly in the summer. Come to thi...

Then put thin foam weather-stripping around the perimeter on the back to stop drafts from around the frame. Handled carefully they might last several years. . HA!!! Who here woul...

Window insulation film

Have any of you in the colder climes ever used the shrink wrap style window insulation films? I've used it in the past, but can never seem to get the double sided tape off of the window frames without damaging them (either pulling up the finish, pulling up splinters of wood, or just the tape/adhesiv...

Welcome Aaron! I'm just west of you in Portland. I inherited my Shopsmith from my grandfather as well, only mine is the older 10er. They are fun machines to keep running!

Very nice!!! I have some great memories of pine car derbies where my grandfather helped me, and my kids and I have had some good times working on their cars when they were younger - cars that looked "fast" for my boy and cars that looked like animals for my girls. We actually got pretty go...

Lathe tools

I saw the below listed lathe tools on Craigslist. Would any of you wood turners out there be willing to tell me what I'm looking at and whether or not it is a good buy?
