chapmanruss,
Even though the 555118 has been replaced by 555608, I assume the 555118 is still okay to use on a 520? I have one of each and they are the same height but have a different size "body"...

Older Bandsaw Question(s)
Greetings to the group!
I bought a SS Mark V 520 used 2-3 years ago and am just now getting into it seriously. Along with the 520 came a bandsaw. The label on the saw calls it a "Shop Smith 11-inch band saw. Model 505641, SN 6670.)

Re: Riving knife alignment
Oops... I wasn't clear. I did not attach the band saw to the saw side of the motor. I did attach it to the other side. And I took the collar off because I didn't know better. Believe me, I won't make that mistake again! Thanks again for all of the help.

Re: Riving knife alignment
Wow! Good eyes!
As I mentioned earlier, I had taken the saw blade (and the silver colored collar) off when I set up the band saw. I obviously put it back on backwards. It all lines up perfectly now!
One follow up question comes from this experience. When you go from table saw to say, band saw, is ...

Re: Riving knife alignment
Thanks for the input! I think y'all have given me good direction (at least got me thinking in the right direction!) The arbor is fully seated against the collar but it looks to me like the amount of distance that the blade and riving knife are off is real close to the amount of space on the collar ...

Riving knife alignment
I'm a complete newby so please take that into consideration when I ask this question!
I bought a 520 about 3 years ago used. I have used it some but not a lot. I recently decided it is time to use it or get rid of it. I've decided to use it.

Re: ShopSmith Band saw question
It opened for me in Microsoft Word. I changed orientation from portrait to landscape and it printed fine.

Thanks for the welcomes! I thought I had it in my profile (but obviously I don't!) that I'm from Western Kentucky (Madisonville.) I see that JPG40504 is from KY also... cool!
