Which is Better?

Thanks, I should have known that "JPW" was Johnson's Past Wax. I thought JPW stood for some kind of exotic, high-tech stuff. I remember when i was growing up, we always JPW in the house. I think it was even available in the grocery store. Now the only question is whether I should get more ...

No So Much Sweat!!

It's really not such a big deal. You can get brand new lock nuts for less than $10.00 right from Shopsmith and probably used ones for 50 cents If you're scared to cut them off, you can just cut a little bit at a time and if you mess-up or don't like them, they're easy to replace. I really find that ...

What is JPW

I recently saw a post that mentioned something called JPW to lubricate the way tubes.

Does anyone know what this is and whether it is better than Minwax? Also, where can I get it?

My old can of Minwax is over ten years old and almost empty.

Clip Their Wings

A while back, I got tired of those tips being in the way and decided to trim them down. I found that cutting off as little as 3/8" from the tips of the wings makes a great difference and there's still plenty of stock left to get a good grip. In fact, I think it's easier to manipulate the handle...

An awful lot of good information and suggestions seem to be emerging. I'd like to say that I was not trying to cast a bad light on the new PowerPro. I am really glad that I got it and I will be even more glad when my credit card is paid off. I think it is a great machine and I am thankful that Shops...

I talked to Dave at Shopsmith customer service yesterday, Jan 24. I asked if it was normal for the PowerPro to get hot when operating at 10000 rpm. He said "It can get pretty darn hot". I then explained that it got especially hot along the top along the main shaft. He said that's right and...

Thanks to everyone for all your responses. I will try to contact Shopsmith tomorrow to see what they say. I'm not expecting them to let me talk to anyone who would really know what the story is and I really don't want to pay nearly $100 to send it back just so they can take a look at it and tell me ...

New PowerPro Issues

I just got a new PowerPro at the beginning of December. As luck would have it, my old motor died just when I needed to get some projects done, so I bit the bullet and opted for a complete brand new headstock rather than trying to redo my old headstock and losing more time. Overall, I am pretty happy...
