First (actual) workpiece
My first actaul work using the 10ER. I cut the profile on my neighbours' bandsaw (mine is undergoing refurb), and used the sanding wheel to clean it up some. I used an oil finish, nothing fancy, and let it dry. I found the coat hooks in a local artsy store, and I liked the look of them. the unit is ...

How-Dee!
Great bunch of guys here. We all seem to be alike, make the same dumb mistakes, make the same amazing things out of wood (in different ways, of course. What's your specialty?

parts

Keep the actual broken stuff where you could see that it was only for repair or for parts. If anyone likes that, maybe send them a line. I'm sure...

Gee
One of those 'I thought it was just me' moments. The more that happens, the more I take solace in the fact that we are all pretty much alike. Either that, or the old-timers' is creeping up faster than I'd like!

Duh!
So, my wife's sister and her husband are visiting form Ontario, and I tell him that my 10ER had just stopped one day last week. Cribbage Pins
It just struck me that cribbage pins are very much like guitar string pins. Here: 'http://www.13thfret.com/bridge-pins.html' is a totally off-topic, yet nevertheless interesting article on guitar bridge pins... which look incredibly like cribbage pins. If I come across an article about actually maki...

Milling Cutters
Here in the Pac Nort' West, some of the machinery places stock used milling bits from Boeing, some of them are that small and smaller. I think if you live near a major manufacturer like Boeing (fill in your favourite), you might be able to bid on used items like this.

Flatness
I have heard that early machinists and lathe builders could take a large table and had-scrape it to a couple of thou flat... BY HAND! Over remarkably long distances. These guys were building steam engines and battleships, with hand tools!

Not mine, but a local piano repair shop has this to shave piano hammers to the precise width: I understand these are available for piano repair shops. Lovely piece of work, uses UHMW plastic. He has 2 10ERs, one for horizantal work, and one for drill-pre...
