I have done both with a relief dado and a dado (less) cut and I don't experience any difference. I am using 3/4 and 1 inch Baltic Birch as well as solid wood. The bit is a breeze. Plus (I though I would add ;) ) the 1/4 20 button head bolts using the aforementioned 5/16 Allen wrench, screws right into the ShopSmith sliding t-nuts for the slots of the 520 fence/table system. Lets you add all kinds of utility to the 520 system in general.

Just 2 more cents :D

My experience, and this is just a suggestion for deliberation, is that the shaft with bearings is not much more (or at least the same) as buying the bearings alone. IIRC, the assembly is around 70 or 80 dollars and you can easily spend that much for bearings rated for 16000 RPM as that is what that ...

Great news Dennis! I know I am using mine extensively for a lot of jigs. Working on a glue up jig for my floating panels.

@rjent - That's an interesting setup. What advantages does this system give you over just getting a T-slot cutter router bit from Rockler/Woodcraft/etc and closet bolts to match the slot size? I see that there's a bit of a tapered profile on the slot, but wondering what the advantage of it is. Also...
