Before I would spend the money on an upgrade to the 510 or 520, I would look for a good used one on craigslist in your area. You may be able to pick up a good one for less than the price of the upgrade to the 510 or 520. Than you could ether keep both or sell the older one.

Dusty,
Yes, it would be nice to see more members than guests on here. I don't post very often, but do read the post most every day. I don't always log in when I am just reading post on here. Could be that other are doing the same and only log in when they want to post something. :)

When refinishing old furniture, I break off the bulk of the old buildup using my little palm sander. Then one coat of citrus based paint and varnish remover to get the low spots and the areas that the sander just won't get. After that, if you still have old stained areas, use household bleach to re...

It looks good. Can you idendify what kind of wood it is made from? It looked like birch wood, but I'm not sure. It had a very white color to it and most gunstocks from the first and second world war were made from birch because it was cheap and easy to work with. I was very pleased with the way it ...

Gunstock is done

I finally got my gunstock done. I striped it with a good paint and varnish stripper, than sanded smooth, put on a clean sealer, stained with red mahogany stain and 4 costs of Tru-oil. I will try to post some pictures of the finished product.:)

I turned my greenie into a shorty so I could still use it as a table saw if need be. I have a full size Mark V 500 as well so I can have them both setup to do deferent operations. The one in my avatar is my greenie that I cut down and rebuilt.
