Much ado about little! 0.005 play in the miter gauge slot. Oh Horrors, my cuts will be off(wrong angle). Angle error <= arcsin(0.005 / length of bar). Length of bar = 16". Error = arcsin(0.0003125) = 0.017°. Whatcha setting the angle with? Granted a pinch point can be created by...

Even though .005" is not excessive, it can be eliminated. If not by the eccentric screw in the miter bar, you could get an Incra V120 Miter Gauge. With the V120 you can eliminate the slop completely. Thanks dusty. i'm probably leaning toward a new table first as the new stuff will go a lot far...

miter bar/slot worn?

Hi all..... Question for those much smarter than I.... My miter has a steel runner and the table is aluminum. (1988 model) I have .005 clearance between the side of the miter bar and the table on one side, on the right miter slot. There are still mill marks on the aluminum so I was wondering whether...

A quick search of the internet and something similar (I believe Woodcraft) was $15.00 bucks, so you made out well. From the looks of the box, appears to be well aged. I couldn't find anything with the Disston name on it, so perhaps they don't make it anymore. I like old hardware stores like that. T...

I found this box, new, and unopened about nine feet up the wall. The nice sales person got a ladder and retrieved it for me. I i...

What did you alter in post of 1/1/13? Thank you for the help!!! I added an update and removed the first pics an...

Looking at the pics, are the angles a little deceptive or is the bottom rail at floor level? Yes sir, the bottom braces are on the floor. I'm still contemplating feet of some kind. I thought since I tend to drop stuff. the floor touching braces might help me find things......and I thought also it m...
