I just check my facts on WIKI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amana_Corporation Pretty cool. Now we all pop our popcorn ...

Finally, I can kill about 40 pages of paper printing the band saw manual. Or just leave the PDF on my computer. Good job Shopsmith. These manuals and exploded parts breakdowns bring the old school tech into the new century. It's so nice that you can still get parts and manuals for a machine that is ...

Great job, Martin. I turned my first bowl during a Traveling Academy session about two years ago. It was a memorable experience! I was nearing completion when the whole thing exploded on me. It is obvious that you are the turner and I am the wannabe. Again, great job. My first was a very dry walnut...

Addicting - YES - Shopsmith as a lathe - Maybe. I joined the local TN Assoc. of Woodturners, and now have access one morning a month to dedicated Jet and OneWay Lathes, and they can turn larger objects safely. The SS slow speed is too high for unbalanced preforms of any size larger than about 6"...

Bill Mayo: Good thinking on your part. Then Lovejoy couplers are a standard motor to appliance coulping (used them many times in machine designs), and who would've thought an industrial type would be cheaper than some PVC fabrication? If I ever need a new coupler, that's the route I'll take. Thanks ...

My wife and I bicycle road around Nova Scotia with 200 other cyclists in 2000 (Lighthouse Tour), and in Liverpool NS the local Civitan Club had a salmon bake for us. The had fresh caught farm raised salmon filleted and nailed to 4'-0" long planks with a kick stand behind them. Then with a huge ...

^ +1What he just said. Lots of folks on the guitar building forum have the same types of re-finishing questions, and the answers are similar. And the Tru-Oil is the preferred choice for gunstocks and guitar necks. About 10-12 coats with very fine steel wool near the last coats, and good dry times be...
