Re: Universal lathe tool rest with lift assist

The picture I posted likely has the Quill fully extended although I can't tell since the top of the Headstock isn't in the picture.

Food for thought, how often would one need the Lathe points to touch during use?

Re: Everything E / ER - Technical info, documentation, links

I recommend installing the screw by putting it in the threaded side first. The end of the screw will sit inside the unthreaded side of the Upper Saw Guard. This helps lock the screw in place without binding the Splitter between the two sides of the Guard. The screw is simply a pivot point. The OEM s...

Re: Lost One of Our Great Contributors

I was out of town this past weekend at a memorial service for our close friend's Mother and Uncle. As I told them "They will always be in our memories and our hearts." The same is true for Ed. He will be missed. Rest in peace Ed.

Re: Parts Question

GrizzlyLawyer, I did misunderstand you, but I did include the screw size for what you were really asking. The Splitter is attached to the Table using the same size but shorter Round Head Machine Screw 1/4" - 20 x 1/2" and a lock washer. Again, do be careful re-tapping the hole in the table...

Re: A-34 Jigsaw Mounting Bolt

Akela9, Glad to hear you found a bolt. Sometimes a washer is helpful in tightening down the Jig Saw to the Model 10 Headstock in the Belt Cover Mounting Bolt hole. That can vary slightly due to the adjustment set screws used for leveling the Jig Saw that are on either side of the Jig Saw Frame Mount...

Re: Universal lathe tool rest with lift assist

The Universal Lathe Tool Rest Base attaches to the Carriage and sits low enough it does add an additional limit as to how close the Headstock and Tailstock can be to each other. As seen in the picture of my Mark 7 below it adds around an inch plus it adds some distance to the Headstock side too. I b...

Re: Parts Question

GrizzlyLawyer, It's not hard to replace the screw that holds the Upper Saw Blade Guard to the Splitter as shown below. I have done that. The screw is a standard Round Head Machine Screw 1/4" - 20 x 3/4". The problem you are having may be bad threads in the Guard. Re-tapping them may solve ...

Re: Another arbor question from a new guy

The Arbor in the center on the plywood blade is the shorter Mark 5 with the original Table System aka Mark V 500 Arbor. The other two are for the Mark V 510/505, 520, Mark 7 and 4 with the larger Table/Fence Systems. For reference the shorter 1-1/4" Arbor is part number 505511 and the longer 1-...

Re: A-34 Jigsaw Mounting Bolt

Akela9, Welcome to the Shopsmith Forum. The bolt is not a typical bolt as seen in the picture below with the Spacer. _ JIg Saw Mounting Bolt and Spacer.jpg . The Spacer is used when the upper arm is removed for "Sabre" Saw cutting and can be easily made if needed. The Bolt is similar to th...
