thanks guys for the help moved the planer to the other side of the drive motor and what do you know works like a champ.

the long side of the knife is up against wedge that holds it in and the short side against the head. By the way I was stationed on a sac base back in the day.

You've got the blades in correctly so my observations were invalid but I am pleased that you have resolved your problem.

I ordered a manual just havent received it. I didnt relize you could plug in to the control either I will do that as thanks for the reply

ok after reading your comment about looks like i am scraping not cutting made me have a closer look. My lack of experience with the planer made me assume that with the planer mounted on the shop smith that all the controls would be in front of me well I was wrong. shopsmith planer trouble

IMAG0026.jpg I purchased a used shopsmith planner. I had the knives sharpened. I checked the table alignment and then installed the knives and aligned. It still is burning up hardwoods and pealing off the grain of soft woods. Anyone have some suggesting of what my problem may be. Here are a few ...
