Re: Which tool do you USE the most
I am with John on this, almost. Rough stock might need the bandsaw first to cut down to acceptable width and the miter saw to cut to rough length before going to the jointer to flatten two sides. Then it might be back to the bandsaw to cut to rough width and thickness before going to the planer for ...

Re: Newb with SS questions - part 2 - SS as Table Saw
I guess I tend to agree with Ed in that the economical way to go if you have the shop space is to get a MK 500 to use for everything except for a table saw. Buy a standalone table saw or now days see if a premium track saw system (Makita or Festool plus the necessary accessories) will do what you ne...

Re: PARF REAM for 20mm holes
The reamer is just a reamer and I think you can only get it from Axminster, at least that is where I got mine.

Re: PARF REAM for 20mm holes
I got to try out my reamer today and overall I would say it is excellent. I used a TSO close fit dog and some holes I had previously drilled with the SO that were too tight to remove without assistance from underneath the table. The drill guide worked well and I quickly discovered that the depth you...

Re: PARF REAM for 20mm holes
My reamer is also due to be delivered tomorrow. I plan to use it with my Rockler portable drill guide to ensure the least amount of run out on the existing holes. Just using a hand drill I think has more risk of producing a larger hole than is desired. Anxious to see how it goes.

Re: Raised panel bits on MK7
I have had good luck with these bits which are used for horizontal table routing. https://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/raised_panel_router_bits2.html?zoom_highlight=horizontal+router+bits I built a table to set on top of the main table so the the bit is positioned i...

Re: Hearing aid battery life.
I got my hearing aids from the VA and get batteries from them. They last almost a week, usually a day or two less. Depends on how much shop time I have since I don't ware them there. I was able to survive flying F-105s and F-4s and even sharing a flight line with EB-66s with little damage. What got ...

Re: New Shopsmith specific YouTube program
About the only thing I totally disagree with is his statement that only 1% of the woodworkers have a space issue that prevents them from buying single purpose tools. I would say that is exactly backwards. Maybe 1% have the 1000-2000 square feet to dedicate to a woodshop and also have the money to bu...

Re: Smart Connect Bench Dogs
A bearing guided chamfer bit with a trim router also does a good job and can be set at whatever depth is needed. I have had good success with this one. https://www.amazon.com/Amana-Tool-MR0108-Diameter-45-Degree/dp/B002QB0PWY/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=miniature+chamfer+bit&qid=1608923144&...

Re: Incra V120 with Shopsmith Safety Grip
"Looks like I have no choice but to consider going the Miter Express + 1000HD route or similar because I have never seen a Shopsmith version of the V120 come up for resale on eBay or Cragislist in the past." Boy I am really glad I got one a few years ago, so much better than the stock Shop...
