Hi folks, here is my 2cents.
My BS is Model 505641, SN 84505 which, according SS Bandsaw FAQ's, puts it at Aug. of 1983.

That's interesting about the preload for the bearing & makes perfect sense. I figured as much when I saw the deep bore & the unfilled 1/8" gap at the short end.
