I just acquired an older ss 12 in portable planer with no instructions. Upon using it I see there is a nick in the blade and want to take it out and move and or resharpen it. Any one have any information to help me?

I have one and has never been used. I don't think SS sell them any longer. I may use it eventually as it looks rigid enough.

Re: How to replace on and off switch on a 510
Not sure on flash but some smoke a couple of times. Cleaned it out and made sure connections where ok and tries it about 10 times with no hesitation or smoke. It's all good.
Thanks for all the tips everyone!

Re: How to replace on and off switch on a 510
The smoke came from the switch area. Must have been a lose connection. Not enough to blacken the switch by heat or show on wires. Guess I caught it on time!!!

Re: How to replace on and off switch on a 510
Thanks for all the reply's. I took the switch out(not as easy as I was told) cleaned it out and made sure the wires were seated into the switch itself. Not more problems and did not have to buy a new switch.
Thanks again all.

Re: How to replace on and off switch on a 510
I believe it is a short because it was stalling then it would go. Then it would work ok. Then it would start to smoke. I moved the wire and it is not smoking or stalling now. I don't want to sell it and be defective. Guess pushing out the switch with a stick will make it work and then I can look at ...

Re: To 520 or not, that is the question...
I have had two 520s and found them to be awesome in being sturdy and well belt. I have just purchased another one but I would not upgrade because the weight and alignment of the tables and tubes are more work than it is worth for me. A 510 is good for me but to each his own. I love SS in every form ...
