Getting ready to start putting this back together since everything has been removed and cleaned.
I have a question about the spring in the photo. Should the longer end just lay in the slot or should it have a bend that like the opposite side that fits into a hole in the slot? Hope that makes sense ...

Re: New Mark 5 Owner
Took the motor and switch out, here are some pics. Started to clean the inside. Still need to drill out the hole in the motor pan for the cable/strain relief.
Any other thoughts and observations from the pictures?

What is an A series headstock?
You can read a good bit about Shopsmith in the PDF http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/viewtopic.php?p=185690#p185690

Re: New Mark 5 Owner
Getting ready to replace the power cord and switch and get rid of the orange extension cord mod that was previously done.
I took a few pictures inside and was wondering if the motor looked original. Any other observations are welcome.
I suspect I have to enlarge the cord hole so the 3 wire and ...

Re: New Mark 5 Owner
I took the headstock off and it's now on a bench. Also I removed the quill 1 because I should for cleaning and 2 because in my efforts to remove the blade I removed the set screw and now think the shaft is not fully seated. I took a few pictures to show:

Re: New Mark 5 Owner
By the way, can you still buy 9" table saw blades? Quick search didn't turn up any.
Forrest still offers several. Pricy, but very highly recommended. ForrestBlades.com.
Thanks, I'll look. What does everyone do for 9" blades? I'm assuming I can't use the 10" or smaller type blades.

Replace the set screw in the aluminum collar. Try to get it centered on the flat that is under it. That will allow you to grip the collar(and therefore the shaft) as you attempt to remove the arbor/blade(as one piece). The arbor nut is a left handed thread(righty loosy, lefty tighty). However the ...
