If I’m remembering correctly, I drilled out the 4 corner holes to 3/8. This allowed the 1/4-20 bolt to screw into the the tee-nut, just barely, keeping the shoe square to the fence. The 4 Allen head bolts hold the guide tight to the top of the fence. One could leave the 4 Allen head screws just loose enough that the guide will slide, and just use the 2 silver knobs to tighten the guides solid to the top of the fence. loosening up the round black knobs allows the shaft the rolle...

After reading this thread, and thinking ( well trying to, anyways ) about it. I drilled out the 4 holes on the Jessem shoe (?), and used SS t-nuts. Hopefully the photos will explain it better. This was pretty easy, no overhang.

You gentlemen do such an incredible job restoring these machines, if I got my hands on one I wouldn’t dare to use it. I would put it in the living room and call it a piece of art.
