I hear this argument all the time. Since wood changes, accuracy is less important than in a machine shop. BUT, you typically do not "build over time". Well constructed, "the project" will not change characteristics (size and shape) all that much." I agree with you in theory...

I get excited to see measuring tools like this that promote great accuracy, then I remember I'm working with wood, not steel, so the material itself changes over time... which begs the question, "how accurate is accurate enough?"

Veritas sells a "Polyguage" that looks like the same idea for less - accurate to 1/12 degree.
