Sorry I tried to respond here with a post but I did so thing wrong. It seems to me it is difficult to dado long items, like stand up shelving, on the SS table saw. I picture a stand with a sliding table that would straddle the the SS motor and but then fold up for easy storage. I'm a dreamer I guess...

id like to increase the size of the table and have it be more functional . It seems to me that it is very difficult to dado long material. Shelves and cabinets ... Frankly it just feels awkward and even risky with the simple table as is. Space is limmited and I'd like to put this machine to work and...

Table saw enlargement?
Hi, I'm bouncing some ideas around in my head about creating something to fit over the small table saw table so as to have a safer and more efficient work top. Anyone else doing this? Thanks

So if anyone might care. I picked up a caster from the local hardware store. $6
Cut the pin on the Shopsmith caster, used the new bolt and lock nut from the new caster. Few minutes and a few dollars, done. Thinking of opening a caster repair shop now. See ya soon

Only the plastic wheel is broken, the metal workings are just fine. I am too. Great info and thanks, it's nice to receive help when one reaches out for it. I'll figure this out and I'll let you know how it comes together. Like the ford barn, good guys here.

well if the tire I'm using does not perform as should ill be looking for an alternative. got a lot of band sawing to do, ill know shortly. thanks for the info

Thanks Ed, I try to do things right. however I'm not rich or famous so i must have screwed up somewhere. I wonder, would this be true to all band saws or just the Shopsmith brand?
