Re: Face frame Clamps, the question
As I was researching this morning to solve my own dilemma, I found a couple of options if you plan on using pocket holes and screws. I typically use dominos for face frames but may need to go the pocket hole route for this build. Kreg has a clamp that engages one of the pocket hols and clamps the jo...

Re: Face frame Clamps, the question
I have the same clamp you do and it has probably been a decade since I last used it. The only other face frame clamp I've ever seen was for camping the face frames of two completed cabinets together and flush for installation. I now use a pair of wedges for each joint, I screw one onto the table and...

Re: Incra sleds for Shopsmith?
My memory is that the miter bar on the Incra 5000 sled is quite a bit longer than any stock Shopsmith miter bar. It allows the big sled to engage the miter slot with the sled pulled all the way back to the edge of the table. The Incra 5000 miter bar is 25 1/2 inches whereas the ShopSmith miter bar ...

Re: Incra sleds for Shopsmith?
I had an Incra 5000 on my shopsmith and went the other way and moved it over to my cast iron saw. The only difference is the miter bar, and I had to replace the drop panel since mine was cut for the Shopsmith and needed a new one for my new saw. The 5000 is a really awesome setup for mitering, or fo...

Re: How do you guys do it??
I’ve done a total of four garages three of them were done with DIY kits from the big box stores and one was done professionally. two of the DIY kits failed within a year because there was no vapor barrier under the concrete one was on new construction and one was on 40 year old construction The DIY ...

Re: Mystery jig?
Guess from my brother in law who is a maritime consultant. "I have not seen these before. But noticing that the concave surface on both pieces is not weathered like the rest of the surfaces. So my guess would be that these two pieces were strapped to relatively close parallel deck rails on a bo...

Re: Latest information on the Shopsmith 75th Anniversary Celebration Event
Another non user of Facebook so I would vote to keep things on the forum as well. As far as expenses, I also expect to pay for travel, lodging and meals. For the reception banquet, $50-100 seems reasonable to me, others may have other ideas. I don't drink so I think a cash bar is a good idea from a ...

Re: battery powered lawn mower
My daughter has a Ryobi 40v snowblower she got for Christmas in 2013. The battery on it failed last winter so 9 years on that. She lives in Duluth/Superior so it threw plenty of snow in its life. Replacement batteries are $179 before taxes. After we moved from the country to the suburbs a couple of ...

Re: What’s Your Shopsmith Connection?
I was at the MN State Fair in the mid 70's and the Shopsmith was being demonstrated. Dad and I stopped to watch the demo and when the guy flipped it up to drill press mode I was blown away. Dad thought it was gimmicky but as we watched he became more interested. Dad's SS 500 was part of building mul...
