Re: Magna Router Table

Thanks Ed, I'll be working on the table sometime this year. Hope to adapt the Shopsmith shaper fence to use on it. If all else fails, I may see if a machine shop can cut it out so I can fit a router lift from Kreg, Rockerler, etc.

Re: Magna Router Table

Hi Jim. A previous comment had a link to the fence. I never have been able to find a manual. Still haven't had time to get it running. Took care if the rust and painted the stand. Hope to be able to adapt the older version of the Shopsmith shaper fence to use and figure out a way to use my Dewalt ro...

Re: Anyone have the 555518 Blank Saw Insert

Thanks for the pdf file. I bought a blank insert from Shopsmith a while ago to use as a template to make my own custom inserts. Tried it last week and made one out of 1/4 inch MDF to use with a router bit. Worked great and didn't take that long to do. Tried to match up drill bits to use for the scre...

Shopsmith sharpening stones

Anybody know anything about this Shopsmith sharpening stone set? Part # BA1250. I can't find anything on it. Would like to know if they are oil or water stones, and especially what grits the stones are. Thanks.

Re: Magna Router Table

Hello. I bought some phenolic to make a base on the bottom to attach my Dewalt router to the underside of the table, and some Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) material to use for the top where the router bit will stick out. Figured I would drill a hole for the bit. It came in a 4 foot piece, 4 inc...

Re: What is the Shopmate Maxi-Clamp used for ???

I also found mine in my Dad's stash. Fortunately he still had the instructions. Used them a few times, mostly to take things apart. I had an old oak office desk that had a stuck drawer. Braced the Maxi-clamps in there and it took me about an hour but I finally forced the drawer out of the desk Could...

Re: Sharpening guide

A note of caution about using the belt sander to sharpen chisels and lathe tools. I read on another Shopsmith group where a guy was doing this, went to dinner, and came home to find inside of his garage on fire. Apparently, some sparks had managed to get into some fine sawdust tucked into a nook or ...

Re: Magna Router Table

Thanks for the reply hammertime. This spring I'm going to see if I can get it up and running. It's in great shape, just missing the fence and adapter plate. Going to try to make one to fit my Dewalt router, and adapt the Shopsmith Shaper fence so I can use it. If I get it working I'll post photos. H...

Re: Ken's stupid question of the week

I agree about not throwing anything out. When I was cleaning out my Dad's stuff, I found the planer alignment tool in a coffee can with a bunch of nuts and bolts. Had no idea what it was but kept it just in case. A few months later I came across it while reading the manual and made the connection. K...

Re: Non-skid/.mar feet for Mark V stand

They fit on the legs of my Model 500 and 510, and the older power stands. Bought a bunch since my basement workshop floors are tile. If the 520 legs are a different size you might try using a little soapy water to slip them on.
