Restoring a Shopsmith 500 Barn Find

It’s pretty rusty, so the way tubes, and any other iron parts go Into an Evapo-Rust bath for a couple of days; the way tubes in a pvc pipe. It’s a great product, and removes every bit of rust. Re: Roll Pin Removal?

Does the pivot need to be in any particular position to remove the roll pin? I can’t see that there is room behind the roll pin to punch it out?

Re: Lathe Center stuck on Morse Taper shaft

I’m not going to replace the quill unless there’s something wrong with it. Geez, I’m not an idiot, I didn’t bang on it like an anvil. You can tap it on both sides at once with two hammers to jar it loose, while prying on it without damaging it. I’ll try and find a bearing separator, or I’ll have to ...

Re: Lathe Center stuck on Morse Taper shaft

I soaked the Lathe Center in Envaporust in Drill Press Mode for two days.
It looks pretty, but it still won’tt Come off.
I’ve tried tapped it on the sides with two hammers, and prying between the lathe center an the knurled aluminum collar; Nothing Gives!

Running out of ideas!
