Re: Why does Shopsmith delete some Sawdust sessions?

I wish Shopsmith would edit their website to remove the links to these defunct pages. You can see this on the product catalog pages as well. One can see a link to several products that when you click on the link you're taken to a page that simply says "This product is no longer available."...

Re: What is the Shopmate Maxi-Clamp used for ???

I don't see this listed in the Accessories catalog on line and am curious what it is and how it was intended to be used. I also have several long wooden gluing clamps and have the document sheet that came with them but these aren't clear as to how to use them. They sound like a great item and they ...

Re: Shopmate Maxi-Clamp

I got a set of these off of ebay, and it's actually a pretty clever design. A maxi-Clamp set without the rods is about like a car with no tires, wheels, engine or transmission. In that case I would head to a good hardware store and ask them for some "All-Thread" that size and cut it into t...

Re: Hello from Oklahoma

Here's a link to a fairly close 505 or 510 with several add ons at a good price: https://tulsa.craigslist.org/tls/5919569163.html. That's a fantastic deal! It has the mark mount thickness planer ($1300 new), scroll saw (they mislabel it as a jig saw), belt sander, and bandsaw as well as the dust co...

Re: Sharpening guide

"Warning: To sharpen lathe chisels, mount the sharpening guide to the extension table only. Mounting the guide to the work-table may cause the cutting edge of the chisel to dig into the abrasive and the tool be thrown from your hands." Dumb question here, but on a mark 7 couldn't you run t...

Re: Doug Reid

He gave an online seminar on the power pro headstock recently. He seems to be doing well and keeping on with shopsmith stuff. He's probably got the best shopsmith oriented youtube channel around. Lots of good information there.

Re: Vintage reading and reference

Delong94,
Thanks for that! it's a great find. I love those old vintage books. I got a lot of smiles looking through that. Might even have to try some of those projects sometime. Also, where can I get one of those crazy "flexible shafts?!" :)

My mark 7 arrived :)

I'm glad to report that my mark 7 arrived today and it seems to be in pristine condition. I'm very happy about the deal I got on it. Tomorrow I plan to go through the alignment and cleaning procedures to make sure that I'm starting it out right. I've been looking at the "10" lesson self st...

Re: New Shopsmith Owner

Rudy49,
Thanks, that sounds like really good advice! I agree that my garage/shop could use some extra storage. Also, I think the idea of using mock ups with cheap wood is a very good idea. :)
