Re: Small miter slot in newer bandsaw table
JPG, perfect diagnosis and treatment. Works much better now after loosening up the tension and a fit of Johnson's wax on the rails! Thanks!

Mark 7 display problem
Just picked up a used Mark 7. Works great, except I noticed yesterday the display appeared to be failing. Parts of it work, parts of it don't. Not sure where to start with this:

Re: Small miter slot in newer bandsaw table
I bet you are right. I tried to take the screws out, 3 came out fine, 2 are stuck in there like me on mashed potatoes and gravy. I soaked them and will try to back them out later. Thanks!

Re: How to Post a Picture
You know I have a heck of a time posting photos. I take the photos with my iPhone so I usually post from there, but every time I try to add a photo to a posting it tells me it is this many pixels too high or too wide. I usually then have to try to crop the photo about 15 times to make it fit the req...

But, my miter gauges won't fit in the slot, which has an aluminum insert screwed into it with 5 screws in the bottom of it. I could remove it and just bend it wider, but wanted to see if there wa...

Re: Length of lift assist strut
Thanks, Bill and Dusty. Bill, those numbers don't match my strut, which did not come directly from Shopsmith, came with the SS used. I called SS customer service earlier this week, they directed me to email them with the question which I did, waiting on a response.

Re: Length of lift assist strut
Ok, I tried to attach the strut I was given when I bought the new SS; I lifted the way tubes up about halfway so the strut would attach. It would go down, but I had to pretty much lift it up myself without any help from the strut, and the strut would only allow it to go up a little over halfway to t...

Re: Length of lift assist strut
Bill,
the pictures didn't make it easy to see, but in the vertical position, the strut, at full extension, is several inches short of the mounting points. I wonder if i have the wrong strut.
