Adjusting the high speed stop via the set screw fixed the problem. Thanks to all who responded to my cry for help. Thanks to br549 for the pdf file with instructions. Back to makin'sawdust!

The headstock starts and runs quietly through the low speeds up to the Dado marker, then the control sheave starts making contact with the stationary part of the speed controller. Looking through the rear access hole I can see the control sheave move outward until contact begins. The button is in ...

Speed controller contacting control sheave
Just installed a new control sheave in my 1985 Mark 5. Now, the speed controller arm comes into contact with the control sheave at Dado speed. What adjustment is needed?
