Maybe I have one of the older lower guards. I have had my shopsmith a long time. Just make sure the stiffener doesn't rub on the guard.

Yes I think I get more enjoyment out of building the jigs than the bowls. I have also built an ornamental turner and a combination cnc router and laser. Most of my bowls I give to friends or fund raisers. They seem to raise a lot of money. I have sold some but I don't consider it a money making ...
